Crossing the Border: Rwanda to Uganda
-
By around 5:30 AM, you arrive at the Gatuna border crossing, the main entry point between Rwanda and Uganda. The border formalities are straightforward, but it’s essential to have all your documents in order. Ensure you have your passport, visa (if required), and gorilla trekking permit ready for inspection. The process typically takes about 30 minutes, after which you officially enter Uganda. Once in Uganda, the landscape begins to change. The rolling hills of Rwanda give way to the lush, green terrain of southwestern Uganda. The drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, your final destination, takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. Along the way, you’ll pass through small villages, tea plantations, and dense forests, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the local communities.
